2011 Pictures from an Exhibition

This video was shot at the exhbition in The Lab, April 2011. The piece was a collaboration (Intrepid Docklands) between Clodagh Mooney (IADT) and myself as part of the 2011 CREATE annual Learning Development programme.

As always, this blog needs updating yet again.

As always, this blog needs updating yet again.

Latest news is that I've joined CREATE with the view to learning about collaborative art to see if that is the direction I want to go in.

Also, the Wrinkley's Playhouse will be shown again in the RDS Nov 5th to 7th in the Industries Hall - admission 5 Euros.

This slide-show gives an idea what the show looked like in NCAD in June 2010. It's done in ver low res, so doesn't look so great in full screen view.

BALANCE Sound video

As always, my lack of expertise with technical equipment leads me to make work-arounds.

When I needed an audio file to play in the background of the BALANCE performance, and for the long BALANCE video, I used the iMac Photobooth software.

Here is the result. You can see me reading the words off the PC, while every so often glancing at the iMac camera.

The words of this poem are from the heart, and convey a lot of what goes on inside me much of the time.

BALANCE at Claremorris 2009

It seems so long ago, but it was very enjoyable when it was happening.
Looking at the audience, and the amount of participation - I think it was nineteen individuals who took part in the various tasks such as throwing dice, putting the glasses in place, or using their sticks to introduce more instability and unpredictability to the process. For myself, I was delighted that my wished for outcome happened - the time could have run out, or dice could have been predictable - but instead it was the built-in technical instability of the chains that failed in the end, precipitated by one of the sticks I suspect. That's what made it so delightful - even the analysis is uncertain.

Not very fancy, but gives an impression of what it is like. Note the variation in sound and light achieved using a wii controller concealed in the end of the bamboo cane.
Credits to all who helped with this project Joey Cleary on camera, Ben Gaulon helped with the wii stuff, and Tony Cleary helped construct the set.
Thanks everyone.

Sorry that the clip of the little girl is in the wrong place. Maybe I will sort it out some day.
